The idea of Welwyn Hatfield Radio was born around the end of 2020, when Josh Hornsey – a young person who was born in Stevenage and grew up in Welwyn Garden City, identified a need to create a community radio station for his local area.

Welwyn Hatfield Radio will give everyone across the borough a chance to try something new as well as lead you towards paid broadcast opportunities.

With many local community radio stations in Hertfordshire closing down, Josh wanted to try a new approach towards the running of this station. Cloud radio not only reduces the running costs, but also opens the opportunities of getting involved to literally anyone!
